Never stop dreaming,
Never stop believing,
Never give up
Never stop trying and
Never stop learning
Roy T. Bennett, ‘The light in the heart’
I have always dreamt about being a teacher. I used to pretend to be one when I played with my brother. My interest in teaching English came some years later. The reason for my early career choice was the strong teacher models that I had at school and at the institute where I used to attend classes. They were dedicated and passionate ladies who devoted all their time to teach. I felt that I was important for them and that I could make a difference as they did on me.
I have always believed that education is the tool to change the world and as a teacher I can collaborate by offering my students the best of me. That is the main reason why I keep on studying and taking training courses.
One of the things that I like the most about teaching is that classes may become unpredictable in the sense that unexpected situations can happen: from realizing that the beautiful class I may have spent planning for a long time did not turn out as I expected to presenting a simple game that out of a sudden engage them to work the whole class. Motivating students by offering them variety of activities to help them develop their learning styles and providing them a clear purpose for learning is the key for success.
On the other hand, it is important to spread my enthusiasm for teaching and learning with them but also create a classroom atmosphere in which students feel at ease and confident with the foreign language, guiding them to open their minds to know about a different culture and accept diversity.
I am sure that my philosophy of teaching will change throughout the years as I am aware of working on my personal and professional growth. I totally agree with Roy Bennett when says:’ never stop trying, never stop learning’.
